Overview We are seeking an energetic and motivated Resort Ranger to join our team! As a Resort Ranger, you will be the friendly face of our resort, ensuring safety, security, and maintenance across our expansive property. Your role will involve engaging with guests, maintaining the natural beauty of the grounds, and supporting the overall safety and enjoyment of all visitors. This position offers a dynamic environment where you can make a positive impact while working outdoors in a lively, community-focused setting. Position Summary The Resort Ranger at Waldenwoods Resort plays a key role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff. This position blends guest service, safety oversight, policy enforcement, and event support within a private, resort campground setting. Resort Rangers serve as a visible on-site presence and are responsible for helping ensure that Waldenwoods Resort rules, standards, and community expectations are consistently upheld. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guest Services Greet members and guests in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner. Provide directions, resort information, and assistance as requested. Respond promptly and respectfully to guest questions, concerns, and service requests. Promote a positive member experience aligned with Waldenwoods Resort standards. Patrol and Safety Conduct routine patrols of campground, internal roads, trails, amenities, and event spaces. Monitor for safety hazards, unauthorized activity, and policy violations. Enforce resort rules, including but not limited to quiet hours, speed limits, fire safety, pet policies, and access restrictions. Observe and report unsafe conditions, suspicious behavior, or incidents to resort management. Policy Enforcement Educate members and guests on Waldenwoods Resort policies and campground rules. Address policy violations professionally, calmly, and consistently. Ensure that restricted areas, members-only spaces, and scheduled events are accessed only by authorized individuals. Document and report violations in accordance with Waldenwoods Resort procedures. Event Support Assist with monitoring and supporting scheduled resort events and activities. Help manage event access, guest flow, and crowd control as needed. Ensure event-related policies are followed and disruptions are addressed promptly and professionally. Grounds and Facility Oversight Observe and report maintenance, cleanliness, or safety issues throughout the resort. Perform light duties as assigned, such as minor cleanup or coordination with maintenance staff. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and visually appealing resort environment consistent with Waldenwoods standards. Emergency Response Serve as an initial responder to minor medical situations, safety incidents, or resort emergencies. Follow established Waldenwoods Resort emergency procedures. Contact local emergency services when required and assist with evacuations or weather-related safety measures as directed. Documentation and Communication Maintain accurate daily logs of patrols, incidents, and guest interactions. Complete incident and policy violation reports in a timely and professional manner. Communicate clearly and effectively with resort staff using radios or other approved communication systems. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in conflict or emergency situations. Ability to walk, stand, and patrol outdoors for extended periods. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods. Valid Michigan driver's license (required if operating resort vehicles). Preferred Minor maintenance skills. Prior experience in campground operations, hospitality, security, or facilities management. Familiarity with private campground or resort environments. Knowledge of basic safety, risk management, and guest relations practices. Physical Requirements Ability to walk and patrol uneven terrain for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work outdoors in varying Michigan weather conditions. Work Environment Outdoor, seasonal resort environment with frequent member and guest interaction. Exposure to varying weather conditions, insects, and natural terrain. Moderate noise levels during peak seasons and resort events. Standards of Conduct Resort Rangers at Waldenwoods Resort are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism, fairness, and integrity at all times. Rangers must represent Waldenwoods Resort positively while enforcing policies consistently, respectfully, and in alignment with the resort's community standards.
