Position Description:

Interns will be assigned a variety of responsibilities designed to help them gain the knowledge and experience necessary for careers with South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks. Responsibilities may include learning and operating the Point of Sale system, assisting staff with troubleshooting, providing customer service, performing basic facility and grounds maintenance, developing organizational and leadership skills, creating and delivering educational programs, enhancing park habitat, coordinating and managing park projects, and educating visitors about park rules and regulations. Interns will be expected to work independently with on-the-job training throughout the summer and will be involved in the full scope of duties performed by a Park Manager within South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks. Interns should anticipate working major summer holidays as part of regular scheduling and will rotate between day and evening shifts.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program. All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
