Qualifications Driver's License Driving Full Job Description Duties:
The Part-Time Pooled Parks Worker assists with the routine maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of City parks and recreational areas. This position performs a variety of manual labor tasks related to grounds maintenance, litter control, landscaping, and general park appearance. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and is scheduled based on operational needs, including weekdays, weekends, evenings as required. Performs litter control duties, including picking up trash by hand and placing refuse into plastic garbage bags for disposal. Empties park trash receptacles and transports filled bags to designated disposal locations using City equipment or vehicles. Loads and unloads trash bags from City trucks and places refuse into dumpsters; walk-up trailers may be available to assist with this task. Mows grass and trims landscaped areas around trees, buildings, sidewalks, playground equipment, and other park features using riding mowers, push mowers, trimmers, weed eaters, and other landscaping tools. Assists with basic landscaping tasks, including constructing flower beds, planting trees and shrubs, and trimming tree limbs under supervision. Assists with construction and maintenance projects, such as building or repairing walkways, fences, playground equipment, and park facilities. Uses tools, equipment, and materials safely and in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines. Maintains assigned equipment and tools in a clean and safe working condition and reports maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisors. Provides courteous assistance to park visitors when needed and reports issues or concerns to supervisory staff. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Performs other related duties as assigned in support of Parks and Recreation Department operations.
Qualifications:
Valid Texas Driver's License and a good driving record. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including moderate to heavy physical labor, lifting and carrying materials, kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time.
PREFERRED
High School diploma/GED. Previous experience or training in parks maintenance, landscaping, construction, or related work.
