Job Description
Position Overview We're looking for a Pest Control Technician I to help protect our nursery crops from weeds, insects, diseases, and other threats. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes safety seriously, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable operating agricultural equipment. You'll work as part of our Pest Control team to safely mix and apply pesticides across the nursery while following all product labels, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Your work will directly support our goal of producing high-quality fruit and nut trees for orchardists throughout the country. What you'll do Safely mix and apply liquid and granular pesticides throughout the nursery Operate chemical application equipment including tractor sprayers, hydraulic sprayers, Dosatrons, foggers, backpack sprayers, and broadcasters Follow pesticide labels, safety procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations Accurately measure and mix chemicals in the proper order and at the required rates Document chemical applications and maintain accurate records Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on application equipment Identify and report equipment defects, errors, or malfunctions Load, unload, and transport palletized materials Communicate with coworkers and nearby employees before applications to help maintain a safe work area Keep work areas clean and return equipment to designated storage areas Work closely with other Pest Control Technicians to complete daily assignments What you bring General agricultural, nursery, or pesticide application experience preferred Ability to safely operate small and heavy agricultural equipment Ability to follow written instructions, pesticide labels, and standard operating procedures Strong attention to detail when measuring, mixing, applying, and documenting chemicals Ability to work independently under general supervision and cooperate with team members Willingness to learn additional nursery equipment and application methods Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends when needed Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions Ability to perform duties while wearing required personal protective equipment, which may include protective coveralls, respirators, chemical-resistant gloves, and rubber boots No formal education is required. We welcome candidates with agricultural experience, pesticide application experience, equipment experience, or a strong willingness to learn.
