Job Description

The Backyard Care Company seeks a customer-focused and detail-oriented individual to be its Pest Control Designated Certified Operator (DCO) in the Atlanta market. This individual will be a critical part of our early team, driving service delivery and customer experience, and have opportunities to grow with the organization over time if desired. Who We Are The Backyard Care Company is an Atlanta-headquartered residential property services company that prioritizes both quality outcomes for our customers and considerations for human and environmental health. We provide best-in-class mosquito control, lawn fertilization, interior pest management, and pet waste removal services. We intend to expand throughout the Southeast in the coming years and have the aspiration to build a national brand in time. The Role We are launching our Household Pest Control vertical , and we need a Designated Certified Operator (DCO) to spearhead and build this service line from the ground up. Because we are a fast-moving startup, change is constant , and your day-to-day will evolve rapidly as we grow. This is not a passive management role—you will carry heavy responsibility and full ownership of creating, driving, and scaling our household pest operations. You will be in the field delivering service, shaping SOPs, ensuring compliance, and directly managing customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Creation & Execution:
Build, launch, and execute core household pest control services in both residential and commercial settings.
Compliance & Oversight:
Act as the company's Georgia Designated Certified Operator (DCO), ensuring full regulatory compliance and technical standard excellence.
Customer Experience:
Drive initial customer adoption, deliver exceptional service, and build trust in our expanding brand.
Operations & Logistics:
Manage facilities, inventory, chemical handling, equipment, and route logistics.
Sales & Vertical Growth:
Actively drive sales, generate new service opportunities, convert leads, and spearhead customer acquisition to build and expand the household pest client base from scratch.
Cross-Functional Route Coverage:
Support existing operations by running mosquito routes as needed while household pest customer density and route volume are being established. Qualifications The right individual for this position will be self-motivated, take pride in their work, and be eager to grow within the company as it scales. Dedication to quality service, an ownership mentality, responsibility to commitments, a willingness to learn, and the desire to solve new challenges as they occur are also key.
Other requirements include:
Georgia Structural Pest Control License:
Must possess a valid Georgia Structural Pest Control Designated Certified Operator (DCO) license in Household Pest Control (Category 29 / HPC).
Startup Mindset:
Scrappy, solution-oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to build something from scratch.
Driving & Physical Capabilities:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to carry/wear backpack sprayers, lift heavy bags (e.g., fertilizer/materials), and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Experience:
Background in route-based services, residential pest control operations, or startup execution highly valued.
