Evansville, IN Job Details $17 - $18 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication High school diploma or GED Driver's License Power tools Industrial chemical handling Hand tools Full Job Description Position Summary Responsible for preventing and controlling the spread of insects and other pests that may infest residential and commercial buildings. Provide pest control services to assigned clients and maintain constant route growth through sales and excellent service. Essential Job Functions Perform pest control inspections of buildings and the surrounding property to identify signs of insect or rodent damage, pest harborage areas, pest entry points, and conditions that are conducive to infestation for pests; and recommend appropriate treatment programs and/or control strategies. Treat customer locations by applying pesticides, setting pest / rodent traps, and removing spider webs and create barriers to prevent insects and rodents from re-entering. Respond to and accurately resolve special (non-routine) pest management concerns from customers. Comply with all safety requirements identified on the label when applying pesticides or other chemicals (including wearing required personal protective gear). Educate clients in proper sanitation and storage practices to ensure a pest-free environment; provide clients with safety warnings and other directions regarding the treatment process. Remove dead insects / rodents and secure all treatment chemicals and equipment before leaving the job site. Properly manage time to service assigned route schedules in order to ensure timeliness to appointments (communicate directly with clients if running behind schedule). Document all services performed at client location using company-issued technology, and submit written records on pests identified, treatment plans and other relevant information. Competencies Demonstrated knowledge about the identity and biology of different kinds of pests. Trained in pesticide use and safety, rodent control techniques. Demonstrated critical thinking / problem-solving skills (deductive and inductive reasoning abilities) Customer service skills to engage with clients and grow long-term client relationships. Consultative skills to assess pest management problems and recommend solutions. Sales skills to identify customer needs and recommend solutions to engage pest control services or remediation. Written and verbal communication skills (read, write, speak and comprehend English needed for all pesticide labels, company reports and education of customers). Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, strong work ethic to complete a job properly. Attend any company provided bi-weekly training meetings in the branch office to maintain technical and sales skills. Physical requirements must be able to perform work while kneeling, squatting, standing, lifting, walking, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. must be able to enter and exit structures, crawlspaces, climb over and on top of a variety of structures, ascend and descend stairs and ladders in a safe manner. must be able to handle chemicals, hand / power tools, carry hoses and pesticide tanks, and set traps. must have good visual acuity for proper inspection, fine motor dexterity to be able to utilize equipment and hand/power tools. must have good physical stamina and physical agility to work in varying work settings (including tight spaces). must have the ability to mentally concentrate in varying conditions. must be able to safely operate motor vehicles. Required education and licensures High-school education or General Education Degree Must be at least 18 years old (for pest control licensure) Have and maintain a valid state-issued motor-vehicle operator license. Obtain and maintain State Pest Control licensure. (AFTERHIRED ON
) New Hires will be provided with training to be able to sit for and successfully pass the State Licensure exam. Training will include Insect identification, insect behavior (habits and harborage areas), conducive infestation conditions and exclusion techniques, chemical application procedures, safe handling of chemicals, proper utilizing and handling of application equipment, documentation / paperwork requirements and Company policies / procedures.
