Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Sawman to join our dynamic forestry and logging team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating cutting-edge heavy equipment, including chainsaws, excavators, and loaders, to perform precise tree felling, trimming, and ground-based logging activities. Your expertise will ensure safe, efficient timber harvesting while adhering to strict forestry and logging safety procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a physically active environment, contributing directly to sustainable forest management and timber production. Responsibilities Safely operate chainsaws, excavators (such as Caterpillar models), loaders, and other heavy equipment to perform tree felling, bucking, and ground-based logging operations Execute tree trimming, pruning, and care activities to promote healthy growth and facilitate safe harvesting Follow forestry safety procedures rigorously to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members Use GPS technology and rigging techniques to accurately locate trees and optimize harvest plans Conduct routine equipment maintenance and repairs to ensure all machinery operates at peak performance Climb trees safely using climbing gear when necessary for trimming or inspection tasks Assist with equipment setup, including bucket operation and heavy lifting tasks required during logging operations Qualifications Proven experience in the logging industry with knowledge of timber harvesting techniques Strong understanding of forestry and logging safety procedures Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment repair and maintenance Proficiency in loader operation, bucket handling, and excavator use (preferably Caterpillar or similar brands) Experience with ground-based logging methods and tree felling techniques Ability to operate chainsaws safely and effectively in outdoor environments Knowledge of tree care practices such as trimming, pruning, and health assessment Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial driving preferred Physical ability for heavy lifting, climbing, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and operating equipment for extended periods Join our team if you're passionate about sustainable forestry practices, enjoy outdoor work that keeps you active, and want to develop your skills in a fast-paced industry.
