This job posting is for a Provisional position and will create a new list. The hiring department will conduct a preliminary review of your application to determine who to interview. Under general supervision, is responsible for pruning trees on and removing trees from Columbus City Schools property; performs related duties as required.EXAMPLES OF WORK
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)- Prunes trees, shrubbery, and perennials using hand tools and power equipment to insure proper growth and appearance, to correct damage and overgrowth, and to prevent security problems;
- Removes trees and limbs damaged by disease and weather as needed for safety and appearance; performs tree and limb felling when there is probability of property damage or tree/limb is considered dangerous;
- Operates an aerial lift or climbs trees using ropes and saddle to reach limbs to prune or remove;
- Operates machinery such as chipper, log loader, and stump grinder;
- Maintains machinery and vehicles in proper operating condition by checking fluid levels, greasing parts, and sharpening or replacing chainsaw and chipper blades;
- Performs safety inspections on ropes, saddles, chain saws, and other equipment;
- Cleans worksite of debris upon job completion using rakes, brooms, and shovels;
- Drives trucks to and from worksite;
- Drives commercial motor vehicles, which require a commercial driver's license;
- Responds to emergency storm calls on a twenty-four hour basis;
- Plants and maintains trees on property;
- Follows prescribed safety rules at all times:
- May operate vehicles with snow plows, blades, spreaders, and other attachments as needed for snow and ice removal.
- May assist in the prevention and removal of snow and ice accumulation from district entryways, walkways, and lots.
