JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordine leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operions of a distinct organizional unit and to perform associed nonsupervisory work. The occupion and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nure of the overall work operions supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-11.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

This is an excepted position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Connecticut Army Nional Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operions. Assigns tasks to be performed. Recommends and participes in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, mobilizion and command support exercises.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works inside and outside, in inclement weher, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands and in temperure and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuing metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps; engine noise, he, blast, intake suction, roting propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuing devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Work involves climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires modere to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 80 pounds such as generors, engine starters, and ejection ses with the assistance of weight handing equipment or other workers. GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Experience or training which demonstres th the candide has the ability to organize assignments for subordines, estime merial and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Your resume and any other supporting documention you wish to provide must clearly substantie you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion. Experience coordining the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Experience demonstring the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. Experience which demonstres the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions.

This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examinion prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. Training the Nional Guard Professional Educion Center (NGPEC) is a mandory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or terminion of full-time employment unless extenuing circumstances preclude course tendance.
