Job Description

This is a PRN (as needed) role intended to provide coverage on an intermittent, fill-in basis. This is skilled and frequently supervisory work in the operation of airports. The fixed base operator employs line persons or ramp service persons who meet arriving aircraft, guide them to parking spots, assist pilots in securing their aircraft, and otherwise serve the general aviation pilots and their passengers.
SCOPE OF WORK
Employees in this position are responsible for the skilled and safe operation of aviation ground moving equipment, as well as lawn care equipment, and airport fuel trucks. The candidate should have prompt execution of assignments according to established routine or special instructions received from a superior. Employees may also perform manual labor, and the duties frequently include responsibility for supervising employees assigned to the airport. Cullman Regional Airport is a General Aviation airport and serves local pilots along with corporate traffic and cargo. The lineman might have a variety of duties, depending on the organization, but most include customer service, safety procedures, routine cleaning and facility maintenance. Some experience in airport operations and use of equipment, especially fueling.

This skill means the ability to listen, write and speak effectively.
Flexibility:
This skill requires the ability to control multiple assignments and tasks in which you can identify order of importance and decide which should be done first, which should be last. You also need to adjust the tasks to suit real conditions and assignments.
Interpersonal abilities:
For an Airport lineman, you have contact with your boss, staff, customers and others. Interpersonal abilities are very important. It helps you to keep good relationships and manage your time efficiently.
Problem-solving:
During working, there are many problems including unexpected issues that requires the ability of control and deal with them quickly and efficiently. When coping with problems, you need to collect information, analyze situations, point out solutions and apply them to solve issues a reasonable time frame. Some knowledge of the methods of airport operations. Some knowledge of occupational hazards of applicable safety precautions in operating equipment. Skill in the operation of various types of standard aviation equipment as demonstrated by a test. Ability to perform aircraft marshalling duties. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read, write and understand fluent English. Customer service is a major part of the lineman's job, good interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. Linemen are part of the ground service team and must be able to work with other employees such as pilots and aircraft mechanics. The job often requires physical strength and stamina to move airplanes and perform cleaning or loading tasks. Linemen should have good vision and hearing for safety reasons. Lineman will need to work flexible schedules or hours.
