8 Columbia, MO Job Details $25.61 an hour 8 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description The purpose of this job is to provide Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) services, certified Emergency Medical Services (EMS) first responder support, and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations within the airport operations area at the Columbia Regional Airport. Safety Officers also assist travelers, support airport personnel, and follow all local, state, and federal regulations related to wildlife management within the airport operations area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.
Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description Responds to aircraft emergencies and crashes to extinguish fires, perform rescues, and provide emergency medical services to victims. Ensures the safe operation and compliance of the airfield, including runways, taxiways, tarmac, and ramps, in accordance with FAA and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) policies, regulations, and procedures. Ensures runway and taxiway surface conditions are accurately recorded in compliance with FAA regulations during inclement weather. Monitors the airport for wildlife hazards and mitigates the hazard using pyrotechnic and other approved devices in accordance with the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan. Operates, inspects, and performs minor maintenance on crash trucks and emergency equipment, including aircraft extrication tools and equipment Participates in ongoing training and maintains required certifications and licenses, including FAA Part 139, TSA 1542, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and/or First responder certification. Performs administrative duties, including issuing access control identification, conducting day and night inspections, and maintaining accurate records and documentation. Instructs airport employees and tenants on standard operating procedures, including Secure Identification Display Areas (SIDAs) and driver training requirements for work on airport property. Participates in meetings. Assists passengers with arrivals and departures at the terminal, including curbside support, to ensure a positive customer experience. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory authority. Work may require providing guidance and assisting with training new staff as needed or requested. Human Collaboration and Job Impact

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with base fire and medical preferred. Medical training preferred. Licenses or Certifications Valid driver's license. Aircraft Rescue Firefighting
  • Part 139 Compliance within one year of hire.
First Responder and/or EMT Certified within one year of hire. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within one year of hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
Knowledge of:
Relevant federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. Public safety vehicles, equipment, tools, and technology.
Skill in:
Managing critical incidents involving EMS and aircraft rescue firefighting. Leading fire attack, suppression, rescue operations, and technical rescue efforts. Operating standard and specialized vehicles and equipment, including those with airbrakes. Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the audience's needs. Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding. Collecting, organizing, and analyzing complex and/or technical data. Managing time effectively. Preparing and maintaining detailed and accurate reports.
Ability to:
Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of
TSA 1542
regulations, FAA 14 CFR, Part 139 requirements, and airport operations procedures. Exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Provide high levels of effective customer service. Handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Process and handle confidential information with discretion. Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Render credible testimony. Successfully complete an annual TSA background check. Successfully complete required training. Work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner. Work varied shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Work Environment
