Aluminum Cast House Shift Manager

Service Center Metals, located in Prince George, VA, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our Aluminum Casting House within a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate brings proven supervisory or management experience in an aluminum casting environment, with demonstrated success leading shift teams in a high-volume, fast-paced industrial setting. This role requires a hands-on leader who understands casting processes, production flow, safety standards, quality control, and workforce accountability. We are looking for someone who:

• 5+ years of experience in aluminum casting, foundry, or molten metal manufacturing environments
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a 24/7 production facility
• Hands-on experience with high-temperature furnaces and continuous casting processes
• Strong understanding of aluminum alloys, scrap certification, melt chemistry, and billet casting
• Knowledge of furnace operations up to 3000°F and molten metal safety practices
• Familiarity with production scheduling, maintenance coordination, and quality systems
• Ability to read and interpret production data, technical drawings, and SOPs
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Strong teamwork, sense of urgency, and a willingness to learn

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage a 12-hour shift that works 1 month of days and then 1 month nights, ensuring safe and uninterrupted production, in our Horizontal Casting environment. You are scheduled to work 15 to 16 days a month.
• Oversee aluminum melting, alloying, chemistry, casting, cooling, cutting, and billet handling processes
• Ensure proper handling and traceability of certified aluminum scrap from approved sources
• Monitor furnace operations, melt temperatures, chemistry, and casting parameters to meet billet specifications
• Follows a production schedule to meet customer demand and inventory requirements
• Train, mentor and motivate production team to develop a positive team environment
• Ensure billets meet dimensional, chemical, and surface quality standards
• Give feedback to the Quality and Metallurgical teams to address defects, root causes, and process improvements
• Maintain documentation and records related to quality, scrap certification, training records and production traceability
• Ensure lowest cost scrap is utilized
• Achieve products goals set by Plant Manager/Senior Management
