Job Description

Midwest Dizziness and Balance Institute (MDBI) is a private vestibular practice specializing in BOTH the
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
of all vestibular dysfunction. We believe that Audiologists are the experts at diagnosing and treating vestibular dysfunction. W e administer a variety of testing to assess the ENTIRE vestibular system.
Testing includes:
VNG, cervical and ocular VEMP, vHIT, Rotary Chair, Bertec
CDP, BPPV
maneuvers, ABR and Electrocochleography. What sets us apart is all the
AUDIOLOGISTS
in our practice not only test, but they also administer all vestibular treatment in the clinic. We see approximately 10,000 total appointments every year and change the lives of countless patients suffering from debilitating dizziness, vertigo and imbalance. We are looking for an extern who wants to excel at Vestibular Testing and Treatment. This is a strong vestibular 4th year site so vestibular passion is a must. Compensation/stipend is provided. Yes Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement? Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Our site expects the student to have mastered audiologic evaluations of adults. Proficient knowledge of the vestibular system with at least 1 rotation performing vestibular work throughout your schooling is essential. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: During your externship, it is expected that you will become proficient in vestibular diagnosis and treatment. Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern: Never Hearing Screenings Never Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler Never Pediatric evaluations: school-age Rarely Adult hearing evaluations Everyday Tympanometry Everyday Acoustic Reflexes Never Auditory processing evaluations Never Hearing Screenings Everyday Evoked potential assessments Never Intra-operative monitoring cases Everyday Otoacoustic emissions Never Industrial/hearing conservation Everyday Vestibular assessments Everyday Vestibular rehabilitation Never Hearing aids dispensed Never Hearing aid selection/fitting Never Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized) Never Cochlear implant evaluations Never Cochlear implant rehabilitation Never Tinnitus assessments Never Tinnitus rehabilitation Regularly Cerumen management Research opportunities?
