Analyst for Environmental Laboratory (Signal Hills)

Alpha Labs, Inc is seeking an entry level analyst at our environmental laboratory in Signal Hill, CA. We specialize in compliance testing under the regulatory guidelines of the California Waterboard and Federal EPA. The network has been in business since 1976 and we've developed into one of the premier environmental laboratories statewide. We're seeking a part-time entry level analyst to perform various test methods required by our clients, including microbiology and wet chemistry methods. The open position's schedule will be Saturday, Sunday approximately 0800-1500, with an additional weekday that can be decided on by candidate. Preferred if applicants are open to overtime during the lab's busy season, approximately November - March. Duties and responsibilities include, not limited to: Perform microbiology and wet chemistry analyses on water samples in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and client requirements Perform calibration, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment Prepare media, standards, and reagents Maintain daily logbooks and quality control documentation Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies Monitor and wash glassware as needed Courier service to client sites

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

B.S. degree preferred Background in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or other science related field preferred Prior experience working in laboratory environment strongly preferred Experience with Microsoft programs and LIMS Ability to multitask, prioritize, and collaborate with team members Strong reading comprehension, communication, and time management Confident in use of basic math calculations (percentages, fractions, decimal notation, etc.) Valid CA driver's license; clean driving record Local applicants strongly preferred (within 20miles of Signal Hill, CA)

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs Must be willing to work with chemicals and wastewater in analytical procedures
