Analyzer Reliability Specialist Job Summary The Marathon Los Angeles Refinery, located in Carson, California, is seeking an experienced Analyzer Reliability Specialist to lead analyzer reliability initiatives and improvements at the site. The primary function of this position is to ensure all analyzers are designed, installed, maintained, and operated such that they perform with the highest degree of reliability. This includes justifying and budgeting for planned equipment replacements, troubleshooting existing issues, implementing new solutions and creating new reliability programs targeting longer run-times and safer, more compliant operations. The onsite schedule of this position is Monday - Thursday, 10 hours per day core business hours are 6:30 AM - 4 PM, after hours calls are required several times a month and support of TAR/outage 1-2 time a year. Key Responsibilities Support maintenance of analyzer systems for both open-loop and closed-loop applications. Lead the development of the refinery 5-year plan to replace end of life/obsolete analyzers. Work on a team, collaborating and interfacing with all departments of the refinery, as well as various corporate entities. Represent the Los Angeles Refinery and actively participates in the MPC analyzer advisory group. Recommend changes to current technology and practices through involvement with industry organizations and research outside of MPC systems. Develop Project Request Forms (PRFs) for analyzer improvement projects, equipment upgrades, etc. Includes financial justification (life cycle cost analysis). Monitor analyzer system performance across downstream departments and recommend improvements for optimization. Assist in preventive and breakdown maintenance, including online process analyzers and environmental gas monitors. Lead multi-department teams to solve recurring analyzer equipment failures, threats, and/or performance issues. Perform root cause failure analyses on analyzer equipment, documents the Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), and implement corrective actions. Share lessons learned on equipment failures through involvement with incident investigations and troubleshooting. Develop turnaround work scope for analyzers. Coordinate major spare parts philosophy on equipment spares for analyzers. Provide guidance, training, and troubleshooting to plant departments; acts as a subject matter expert on analyzers. Ensure data from analyzers communicate information for availability reports and environmental reports. Work with the project teams and maintenance to ensure that any new or replacement analyzers will optimally and reliably perform the measurement required. Maintain an analyzer systems knowledge repository and shares best practices. Continues to stay current with the latest analytical technology by attending conferences and trade events specifically devoted to analyzers. Work closely with plant operators, maintenance teams, lab, project groups, and other engineers to effectively maintain refinery analyzers. Education, Experience and Skills Minimum Qualifications Must have high school diploma or GED and 7 years of maintenance experience in a refinery or petrochemical plant which includes a minimum of 5 years experience with analyzers. Must be proficient in troubleshooting analyzers to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operations. Must be proficient with maintenance/reliability management systems. Must be proficient in

Word, Excel and Outlook. Must have excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical. Must have a valid driver's license. (MPC determines valid status.) Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship. Travel Requirement is 5% or less. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of petrochemical chemistry and physical analysis methods (e.g., moisture, pH, density, conductivity) is preferred. Understanding of gas chromatography, methods to measure O2 in furnaces, and applications for TDLAS technology is preferred. Understanding physics and chemistry with emphasis on gas and fluid dynamics is preferred. Understanding integrated analyzer systems and knowledge of many different types of analyzer measurements is preferred. Understanding of basic refinery plant operations and hands on approach to design and problem solving is preferred. Knowledge of process safety, environmental regulations, CEMS, andOSHA/EPA
guidelines is preferred. Knowledge of instrumentation such as flow, pressure, and temperature measurement as it relates to analyzer sample systems is preferred. Working knowledge of PLC systems is preferred. Proficient with maintenance/reliability management systemsSAP, AMS, SPI
