Position Description:
We are currently seeking to fill our Animal Care Technician position on the Philadelphia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.
POSITION SUMMARY
Part Time Position:
20 hours/week Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Responsible for the daily husbandry care and welfare of laboratory animals as well as record keeping in compliance with all local, state and federal guidelines
  • Change rodent cages as scheduled or when needed
  • Ensure animals have adequate food and water
  • Feed aquatic species twice daily and maintain live feed colonies
  • Monitor the health of animals and report all abnormalities to the Facility Manager or Veterinarian
  • Operate cage washer and autoclave
  • Maintain appropriate facility logs, documenting tasks completed Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma
  • 0 - 2 years
Animal Experience Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.)
  • Take initiative to solve unexpected problems
  • Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies.
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
Position Requirements:
  • Must be able to work weekends

Hourly Range:
Starting at $19.56 hourly ‌ The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
