  • Deliver instruction aligned to the MA DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts Frameworks, including: Food preparation and production Sanitation and food safety (ServSafe standards) Nutrition Culinary theory and applied techniques Restaurant and hospitality operations Workplace readiness and employability skills
  • Develop and maintain curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, and lesson plans aligned with MA DESE Strand 1-6 requirements.
  • Integrate academic standards, including literacy and math applications, within culinary instruction.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments aligned with MA DESE Standards I-A and I-B (Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment).
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials, including ServSafe Manager and Allergen Certification (as applicable). Laboratory & Safety Management
  • Maintain a safe and fully compliant commercial kitchen/lab environment.
  • Enforce OSHA, food safety, sanitation, and Chapter 74 safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper equipment maintenance and inventory control.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety plans consistent with MA DESE Chapter 74 requirements.
  • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Student Development
  • Promote equitable access and participation for all students, including students with disabilities, English learners, and historically underserved populations.
  • Implement differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Support student participation in SkillsUSA and other leadership development opportunities.
  • Supervise and evaluate students in cooperative education placements consistent with Chapter 74 regulations (if applicable). Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.
  • Collaborate with academic teachers to ensure MassCore alignment.
  • Maintain required DESE documentation and reporting for Chapter 74 compliance.
  • Engage in professional development aligned to MA DESE Standards II (Teaching All Students) and IV (Professional Culture).
  • Maintain industry connections and partnerships to support work-based learning opportunities Standard III (Family and Community Engagement).
