As we expand our practice, we are seeking an experienced Project Architect with specialized expertise working with the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) to join our team. This is an in-person position based in our Harrisburg, PA office. Position Overview This role offers a unique opportunity to lead high-profile public-sector projects that serve agencies and communities throughout the region. The ideal candidate will be a licensed architect with at least 15 years of experience and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction. Extensive experience managing projects for DGS is highly preferred. You will play a central role in shaping project vision, maintaining design integrity, and ensuring technical precision across all project phases. Key Responsibilities Serve as the design and technical lead for civic, institutional, and public-sector projects across the region. Collaborate closely with clients, government agencies, and consultants to deliver functional, responsive, and human-centered environments. Direct the development of construction documents, ensuring full compliance with applicable codes, accessibility standards, agency requirements, and DGS procedures. Provide oversight during bidding and construction phases, supporting quality assurance and field coordination. Lead internal design charrettes and mentor emerging professionals within a collaborative studio culture. Contribute to project scheduling, budgeting, and strategic planning alongside firm leadership. Coordinate submissions, reviews, approvals, and project administration in accordance with DGS requirements and processes. Required Qualifications Active U.S. architectural license; Pennsylvania license preferred. Minimum of 15 years of architectural experience. Demonstrated experience leading complex public-sector, civic, or institutional projects from concept through construction. Strong command of Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite. Expertise in building systems, detailing, and construction documentation. Familiarity with public procurement processes and multiple project delivery models. Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications Extensive experience working with the Pennsylvania Department of General Services, including familiarity with DGS project procedures, documentation, reviews, and construction administration requirements. Experience working with state agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, or other public-sector clients. Specification writing LEED accreditation and a working knowledge of sustainable design practices. NCARB certification or eligibility for reciprocity.
