Job Description
Paving Equipment Operator Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Paving Equipment Operator to join our paving crew. The ideal candidate will have experience operating a variety of asphalt paving equipment and be committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe and efficient job site. This position requires versatility, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safely and efficiently operate various asphalt paving equipment, including: Asphalt Paver Screed Asphalt Roller Power Broom Milling Machine Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair needs promptly. Maintain proper paving grade, slope, and mat quality while following project specifications. Coordinate with foremen, truck drivers, and other crew members to ensure efficient paving operations. Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and general job site preparation. Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on equipment. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and traffic control procedures. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Assist with other construction-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience operating asphalt paving equipment preferred. Demonstrated experience operating multiple pieces of paving equipment, including pavers, screeds, rollers, brooms, and milling machines. Ability to recognize paving inconsistencies and make necessary adjustments for quality workmanship. Knowledge of asphalt paving methods, materials, and construction practices. Ability to read and understand grade stakes, paving plans, and project specifications is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Valid driver's license required. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the workday. Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods. Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, when required. Tolerate exposure to heat, dust, asphalt fumes, noise, and changing weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience on DOT, municipal, commercial, and private paving projects. Experience with GPS or automated grade control systems. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Why Join Our Team?
