Site Preparation:

Clean and square up utility cuts using jackhammers, concrete saws, shovels, and brooms to remove loose debris and old asphalt.

Material Placement:

Shovel, rake, and level hot-mix or cold-mix asphalt into the utility cut to the exact specified depth and grade.

Compaction:

Operate hand tampers, vibratory plate compactors, and small trench rollers to pack the asphalt tightly, preventing future settling or dipping.

Traffic Control:

Set up cones, signs, and act as a flagger to direct traffic safely around the small work zone.

Equipment Maintenance:

Clean and maintain hand tools, compactors, and torches, ensuring all asphalt buildup is removed at the end of the shift.

Required Skills & Physical Requirements Physical Stamina:

Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs regularly, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).

Tool Proficiency:

Experience operating jackhammers, plate compactors, asphalt rakes, lutes, and pneumatic tools. Attention to

Detail:

Ability to rake and match the new asphalt patch perfectly flush with the surrounding existing pavement to prevent bumps.

Teamwork & Safety:

Strong communication skills to work closely with excavator operators and follow strict OSHA and DOT safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications Experience:

1+ years of experience in asphalt patching, utility restoration, or general concrete/construction labor.

Certifications:

Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus) and a DOT Flagger Certification or OSHA 10-hour card.

Pay:

$19.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 45.0 per week
