Job Description

Grey Development is seeking an experienced Grading Equipment Operator to join our growing construction team. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment to perform grading, excavation, and site preparation for commercial and residential construction projects. The ideal candidate has experience with site development, earthwork, and grading operations and takes pride in producing quality work while maintaining a safe job site. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, skid steers, compact track loaders, motor graders, rollers, loaders, and other construction equipment. Perform rough and finish grading according to project plans and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, stakes, and elevation benchmarks. Prepare sites for roads, parking lots, building pads, athletic fields, drainage systems, and other site improvements. Excavate, backfill, and compact soil while maintaining proper grades and drainage. Work with laser levels, GPS machine control, or grade control systems when applicable. Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is operating safely. Identify and report equipment repairs or maintenance needs. Collaborate with superintendents, project managers, and crew members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience operating grading and earthmoving equipment. Experience in commercial site development, grading, excavation, and site work. Ability to read and interpret grading plans and construction drawings. Knowledge of proper grading techniques, drainage, soil compaction, and erosion control. Experience with GPS machine control systems (Topcon, Trimble, Leica, etc.) is a plus. Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred but not required). Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely enter and exit heavy equipment throughout the workday. Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well as part of a team. $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
