We are a Union Highway Paving/Heavy Civil Contractor in Butte Montana looking for experienced Paving Foremen, Screed Operators, Paver Operators, Breakdown/Finish roller hands and laborers to join our Interstate/Commercial paving teams. Job Descriptions:
Paving Foreman- Responsible to manage crew members and be committed to uphold safe, efficient, and profitable decisions on projects from start to finish. The paving foreman will be responsible for achieving a high-quality finished product. Has good knowledge of all aspects of asphalt paving operations with a solid background in preparation for asphalt paving. Strong understanding and knowledge in Montana Department of Transportation and Montana Public Works specs, materials, reading plans, shooting grade, elevations, compaction, measurements, and consistency. Training and mentoring crew members to maintain quality work. Daily foreman reports to communicate project details, employees on the projects, equipment inspections and repairs needed. Good communication with project managers. Must be a team player, self-motivated and a detailed oriented individual with goals. Paver Screed Operators- Responsible for having strong knowledge and experience in operating the paving screed. Responsible for ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement. Strong knowledge of the use of/set up of controls and electronics incorporated with the operation of the screed. Understanding of materials and what to look for in producing a high-quality mat. Responsible for making sure the screed is in good working condition, the heat is on and ready to go. Have good communication skills with team members, sub-contractors and management. Handle all interactions with team members, subcontractors, clients, and the public in a professional manner. Paver Operator- Responsible for safely operating/driving the paver. At Jeffery Contracting we run a variety of pavers including
CAT 1055, CAT
555, Vogele Super 2000, Vogele Super 1700 and a few Lee Boy pavers as well. Responsible for ensuring paver is ready to go each day including a thorough pre and post inspection of the paver and pickup machine if being used. Operator will need to know and understand truck turnaround to keep hopper full and understand the needs of asphalt pertaining to each pull to uphold consistency in speed to minimize stops and startups. Be detail oriented to maintain straight lines. Have strong communication skills to be able to communicate with the guys on the screed, guys on the ground, roller operator, truck drivers, and management. Handle all interactions with team members, subcontractors, clients, and the public in a professional manner. Asphalt Roller Operators- Roller operators are responsible for safely operating double drum compaction rollers. Strong understanding of roller patterns, compaction, and asphalt temperatures to gain specified finish and density of a high-quality mat. Have very strong communication with the Quality Control inspector to know where compaction/temps are at and what is needed to achieve the goals of Break-Down and Finish Roller hands. Roller operators are responsible for ensuring rollers are ready to go each day including a thorough pre and post inspection. Have good communication skills with team members, sub-contractors and management. Handle all interactions with team members, subcontractors, clients, and the public in a professional manner. Asphalt Paving Laborers- Laborers are responsible for safely assisting in the laboring needs of the paving operation including but not limited to shoveling, raking, use of a skid steer and loader. Be a reliable driven individual that wants to learn and move up. Responsible for assisting in daily start up, shut down of operation, pre and post inspection of equipment, organization of paving trailer and making sure hand tools are cleaned daily to be ready to use. Have good communication skills with team members, sub-contractors and management. Handle all interactions with team members, subcontractors, clients, and the public in a professional manner.

Company Bonus Program Qualifications/Responsibilities:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. (Class A CDL preferred.)
- Good knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in Asphalt paving.
- 1+ Years of Asphalt Paving experience.
- Pass pre-employment screening.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and ability to operate in a safe and effective manner.
- Have keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain a safe worksite.
- Able to lift 50+ lbs.
- Safely and efficiently operate and help in laboring activities (raking, shoveling, etc.).
- Be compliant with all safety standards including Jeffery Contracting and
OSHA/MSHA
regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Work well with others and be willing to take direction.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
- Maintain daily records.
- Must be reliable and on time daily.
