Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic construction team as an Asphalt Laborer and be a vital part of creating durable, high-quality roadways and infrastructure. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work outdoors on various construction projects, focusing on highway maintenance, street paving, and civil infrastructure development. As an Asphalt Laborer, you will assist skilled operators and crew members in executing asphalt paving and road construction tasks while adhering to safety protocols. Your enthusiasm and dedication will contribute to building safer, smoother roads that serve communities for years to come. Duties Assist with the operation of heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks to prepare and grade surfaces. Support paving operations by spreading asphalt using power tools and manual handling techniques. Conduct traffic control for work zones to ensure safety for workers and motorists during construction activities. Perform heavy lifting and manual labor tasks including moving materials, setting up barriers, and site cleanup. Utilize hand tools and power tools for various tasks like welding, utility locating, and minor equipment repairs. Follow FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations when operating commercial trucks such as dump trucks or highway maintenance vehicles. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, wearing proper PPE, and participating in safety meetings. Qualifications Prior construction site experience with a focus on road construction or civil infrastructure projects is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks. Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and highway maintenance procedures. Mechanical knowledge related to power tools, welding equipment, and basic machinery repairs. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely in outdoor environments. Familiarity with traffic control standards for work zones and safety protocol adherence. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred; familiarity with FMCSA regulations is a plus.
