This energetic role involves physically demanding outdoor work, operating heavy machinery, and supporting asphalt paving projects across various civil infrastructure sites. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects while adhering to all safety protocols and regulations. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your skills in heavy equipment operation and road construction. Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and setup of asphalt paving sites, including traffic control for work zones to ensure safety for all workers and motorists Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar machinery to move materials and prepare surfaces Support paving operations by spreading asphalt using power tools and manual handling techniques to achieve smooth, durable surfaces Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or paving activities Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, including welding and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation Follow FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations for commercial truck driving when operating trucks or transporting materials Adhere strictly to safety protocols on construction sites, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following OSHA standards Assist with highway maintenance tasks such as patching, sealing cracks, and general repairs on roads and infrastructure Support heavy lifting tasks using hand tools or mechanical aids while maintaining proper manual handling techniques Collaborate with team members on construction projects, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high safety standards Experience Previous construction experience with a focus on road or highway projects is highly preferred Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, or dump trucks is essential Knowledge of traffic control procedures for work zones and familiarity with FMCSA regulations is a plus Ability to perform manual labor involving heavy lifting outdoors in various weather conditions Experience working on civil infrastructure or utility locating projects demonstrates valuable skills for this role Mechanical knowledge related to power tools, welding, and equipment maintenance is advantageous Strong understanding of safety protocols on construction sites and adherence to OSHA standards is required Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain one may be necessary depending on project needs Join us in building durable roads and supporting vital infrastructure!
