Staffworks Group is seeking a Motor Grader Operator in Jacksonville, NC. You'll be responsible for operating a motor grader to perform precise grading and finishing work on roadways, construction sites, and civil projects. This role plays a critical part in establishing proper grade, drainage, and surface preparation for paving operations. $22 an hour Key Responsibilities Operate motor grader to fine grade surfaces for roads, highways, and construction projects Cut, spread, and level materials such as dirt, gravel, and stone to meet project specifications Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and elevations Maintain proper slope, drainage, and alignment during grading operations Perform rough and finish grading in preparation for paving crews Work closely with site supervisors, surveyors, and other equipment operators Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks Ensure safe operation of equipment and follow all company safety standards Assist with other site duties as needed, including operating additional equipment or supporting labor crews Qualifications Previous experience operating a motor grader in road construction or site development preferred Ability to read grade stakes and understand elevations and slopes Experience with GPS grading systems (preferred but not required) Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and site preparation Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred for some roles) Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor conditions Capable of lifting up to 50-60 lbs as needed Work Environment Outdoor construction sites Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
