Maintain good health status with ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. and flexibility to bend, push, pull, stoop and/or twist. Able to read and understand plans and specifications for each project. Be sure to have a copy of the project plans with you at all times and confirm the information with the Superintendent or Project Manager. Must be on site (30) minutes prior to start time. Review the project with the Superintendent. Ensure project is ready and all equipment is on site, functioning properly, and in position for a prompt start. Perform a walk thru paying particular attention to Potential Hazards. Thoroughly inspect area with a metal detector prior to the start of any milling Ensure proper layout of project from contract drawings to ensure the highest quality and productive practices are used. Establish and maintain positive relationship with all those working under your supervision as well as the Project Superintendent, and Owner. Conduct Weekly Toolbox Talks and turn in to Safety Department. Monitor Milling operations for depth of cut, cross slope and quality of cut; communicate with Quality Control. Ensure crew and trucks are operating efficiently at all times. Calculate number of trucks required for the Milling Operation. Fill out daily trucking reports; monitor throughout the shift and communicate with Superintendent and scale house; add or subtract trucks as needed. Monitor truck weights throughout the shift with the scale house to ensure proper truck weights. All Change Orders or Extra Work must be approved by the Project Manager and signed for prior to work being done. Accurately and on time complete time sheets on a daily basis. Fill out and track all milling teeth on appropriate report daily. Fill out Equipment Condition Report daily. Be sure assigned equipment is properly maintained and kept clean at all times. Make sure all equipment is parked in a safe area in a neat and orderly fashion and accessible to transports. Know and understand the clear zone requirements. Place Type 2 barricades if needed making sure the equipment is not a hazard Be sure all equipment is fueled, filled with water and necessary teeth are replaced at the end of shift. Inspect the project daily, prior to departing, to ensure work is complete with the highest quality and all cleanup is complete. All Accidents/Incidents MUST be reported immediately to your Construction Superintendent and the Safety Department. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and 3 years milling experience. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to keep time and material records. Ability to follow verbal and written instruction and communicate effectively.
