Job Description
Screed Operator
Full-Time in Bowmansville, PA - TSG Our client is looking for a Paving Screed Operator who will be responsible for operating and controlling the screed on an asphalt paving machine to ensure a smooth, even, and properly compacted surface. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and coordination with the paving crew to meet project specifications and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Operate the screed controls on an asphalt paver to regulate depth, width, and smoothness of the asphalt mat
Adjust screed settings to maintain proper grade, slope, and crown according to project plans
Monitor asphalt material flow and temperature to ensure consistent paving quality
Coordinate with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew for efficient workflow
Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on screed equipment
Identify and correct surface irregularities during paving operations
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Read and interpret project plans, grade stakes, and specifications
Maintain a safe and clean work environment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred
2+ years of experience operating paving equipment, specifically screeds
Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes and materials
Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and layout drawings
Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not always required) Skills & Competencies Attention to detail and precision in equipment operation
Strong hand-eye coordination
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting
Ability to work in varying weather conditions Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and work on uneven surfaces
Frequently lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and noisy environments
