Job Description

Byrne & Jones Construction - Nashville is seeking an experienced Prep/base stone foreman to supervise and coordinate all site preparation activities prior to asphalt paving operations. This role will lead prep crews, operate equipment when needed, and work closely with paving crews and project managers. Responsibilities Supervise and lead asphalt prep crew members Plan and coordinate daily site preparation activities Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications Oversee grading, excavation, compaction, and base preparation Ensure proper installation of base materials Monitor elevations, slopes, and drainage to meet specifications Coordinate with paving foreman to ensure readiness for asphalt placement Operate heavy equipment as needed (skid steer, roller, grader, loader, etc.) Inspect work to ensure proper compaction and surface preparation Enforce OSHA and company safety standards Train crew members on equipment operation and prep procedures Qualifications 3+ years of experience in asphalt, grading, or site preparation 1-3 years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred Strong knowledge of subgrade prep, aggregate base, compaction, and drainage Ability to read and interpret site plans and grade stakes Experience operating heavy equipment Strong leadership and communication skills Valid driver's license Physical Requirements Ability to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift 50+ lbs.
