GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
Understands the various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, mix designs, job plans & specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving. Trains, coaches, and effectively leads a crew of 5-10 team members by delegating tasks to ensure daily productions are met or exceeded. Schedules trucking, equipment, and labor needs with operations manager for upcoming work. Engages in open communication with the operations manager and project managers. Quickly reports any issues which could affect the project plan. May be responsible for operating asphalt paver (screed side) while paving or other equipment as needed during different phases of the job. Communicates with asphalt plant operators throughout the course of the workday. Submits timecards daily capturing production, equipment and labor utilized for completed tasks. Communicates with crew members and management to ensure a safe and efficient work environment SAFETY Assist with the adherence of the SDI Safety Plan. Be responsible for housekeeping and conducting regular inspections of work areas for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts. Set an example for employees by wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce their use. Assist in the reporting of all incidents and/or injuries immediately. Report all incidents and submit an Accident/Injury Report to a Safety Officer. Must have a valid driver's license. Applicants will be subject to drug screening and pre-employment physical. S.D.
