Positive, Team-Focused Culture Position Overview:
As a Boiler Install Lead, you'll be responsible for completing high-quality residential boiler installations, directing helpers or apprentices on the job, and ensuring every system is installed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
Your Day-to-Day:
Lead residential boiler and hydronic heating system installations from removal through startup and commissioning. Install and replace high-efficiency boilers, conventional boilers, combination boilers, indirect water heaters, pumps, expansion tanks, zone controls, valves, piping, and related components. Perform piping modifications and ensure proper system layout, flow, venting, drainage, and controls. Complete boiler changeouts and system upgrades in existing residential homes. Diagnose installation-related issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper system operation. Perform system startup, testing, purging, and commissioning. Read and interpret manufacturer specifications, piping diagrams, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions. Ensure all work meets local codes, manufacturer requirements, and Great Dane's quality and safety standards. Lead and provide hands-on direction to install helpers and apprentices while on the job. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Communicate professionally with homeowners throughout the installation process. Educate homeowners on the operation and basic maintenance of their new boiler system. Complete required job documentation and communicate installation progress or concerns with the Install Manager. Maintain company tools, equipment, and assigned vehicle. What Does It Take? 3+ years of residential boiler/hydronic installation experience preferred. Strong knowledge of residential boiler systems and hydronic heating. Experience with boiler piping, circulators, zone valves, expansion tanks, air elimination, controls, and related components. Experience installing high-efficiency and condensing boiler systems. Ability to independently complete residential boiler installations from start to finish. Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills. Working knowledge of applicable HVAC, plumbing, gas, electrical, and mechanical codes related to boiler installation. Ability to read piping and wiring diagrams. Experience leading or training installers, helpers, or apprentices preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to meet the physical requirements of residential HVAC installation work
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and work in confined spaces. Technicians must be able to lift and carry up to 50-75 pounds, safely use ladders, tools, and equipment, and work in attics, crawl spaces, basements, and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and conditions.
