Jefferson State Highways, Inc. (JSH) is a licensed heavy-civil and specialty construction contractor headquartered in Redding, CA. We are hiring a certified concrete paver installer for a public-works trail project in Redding. This is a seasonal/temporary position for the duration of the paver installation, with the possibility of additional work on future JSH projects for the right person. This is a California prevailing wage project. You will be paid the published Department of Industrial Relations rate for the work performed, with fringe benefits paid on top of the base rate. What you will do Install interlocking concrete pavers on a prepared base to plan lines, grades and patterns Screed bedding sand, set pavers, cut pavers with a masonry saw or splitter, install edge restraint, and compact and joint-sand the finished surface Read and work from plans, details and layout stakes Check grades, slopes and alignment; correct low spots and lippage Work alongside JSH crew members and help with base prep, material handling and jobsite cleanup as needed Follow all jobsite safety requirements, including traffic-control and public-access rules on an active trail corridor Requirements CMHA Certified Concrete Paver Installer (formerly ICPI Certified Concrete Paver Installer) - REQUIRED. Current certificate must be provided at hire. Minimum 2 years of hands-on interlocking concrete paver installation experience Able to lay pavers to pattern, cut with a wet saw, and finish to a tight, level surface Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, kneel, bend and work outdoors in summer heat and winter weather Reliable transportation to the Redding jobsite Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and provide documentation of eligibility to work in the U.S. Preferred Experience on public-works / prevailing wage projects Experience with permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) OSHA 10 card Valid California driver's license What we offer Prevailing wage pay with fringe benefits Weekly pay Steady, consistent hours for the length of the project Opportunity for continued work with a growing Northern California contractor How to apply Apply on Indeed with your resume and a copy (or photo) of your paver installer certificate.
