Job Description

Burton Design & Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced, dependable, and quality-driven Skilled Carpenter to join our growing field team. This position is responsible for leading daily field activities, performing skilled carpentry and construction work, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards of quality. The Skilled Carpenter works closely with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor to execute the project plan, coordinate daily work activities, mentor Construction Laborers, and help maintain productive, organized, and safe job sites. This individual leads by example through craftsmanship, professionalism, and accountability. Key Responsibilities Perform various construction activities and support all phases of residential construction. Skilled Construction Perform and oversee work including: Rough and finish carpentry Framing Foundation work and concrete forming Waterproofing systems Site drainage Window and door installation Flashing and weather barrier installation Siding installation Interior and exterior trim Cabinet installation Drywall installation, finishing, and repairs Painting and touch-up work Decks and balconies Fencing and retaining walls Concrete and masonry work Punch list completion Warranty work General construction activities Quality Ensure work is completed correctly the first time. Verify workmanship meets quality standards. Identify and correct quality issues before they become rework. Protect finished work throughout construction. Maintain organized and professional job sites. Promote craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the crew. Safety Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment. Ensure crew members follow all safety procedures. Verify required PPE is worn at all times. Identify and immediately address unsafe conditions. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Qualifications 5+ years of residential construction experience preferred. Strong carpentry and finish carpentry skills. Experience with luxury residential remodeling and custom homes preferred. Working knowledge of multiple construction trades. Ability to read construction drawings and specifications. Ability to organize daily work activities. OSHA 10 certification required or willingness to obtain (OSHA 30 preferred). Equipment operation experience (mini excavator, skid steer, forklift, etc.) is a plus. Requirements Valid California Driver License. Reliable transportation to Bay Area job sites. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Bring Your Own Tools (BYOT). Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Consistently follow all safety requirements.
