Journeyman Carpenter - Residential & Commercial ConstructionJob Overview Solo Construction is seeking an experienced, dependable Journeyman Carpenter to join our growing construction team. We perform residential, commercial, tenant improvement, multifamily, ADU, and ground-up construction projects throughout California's Central Valley and surrounding areas. This is not an entry-level position . We are looking for someone who can step onto an active jobsite, read construction plans, understand the scope, lay out work, and perform quality carpentry with minimal supervision . The right candidate must have strong framing experience, understand proper construction methods, take pride in their work, and be able to work efficiently as part of a professional construction crew. Responsibilities Must be able to confidently read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, details, elevations, sections, schedules, and specifications. Lay out walls, openings, headers, beams, posts, columns, backing, blocking, and other structural components directly from approved plans. Perform wood framing for residential and commercial construction. Frame walls, roofs, ceilings, soffits, openings, and other structural assemblies. Install roof trusses, rafters, wall sheathing, roof sheathing, blocking, bracing, and framing hardware. Understand and properly install hold-downs, straps, clips, hangers, anchors, and other structural connectors. Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately and efficiently. Perform demolition, remodeling, siding, doors, trim, drywall backing, and miscellaneous carpentry as required. Coordinate with foremen, project managers, subcontractors, and other trades. Identify plan conflicts or field issues and communicate them before proceeding with incorrect work . Maintain production while meeting Solo Construction's quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow OSHA/Cal-OSHA requirements and all company safety procedures. Assist with other construction-related tasks when required by the project. Requirements Minimum 5 years of professional carpentry/framing experience preferred. Blueprint and construction-plan reading experience is
REQUIRED.
Must understand dimensions, elevations, structural details, framing layouts, and construction terminology. Strong experience with wood framing and structural carpentry . Commercial construction experience is highly preferred. Concrete/formwork experience is a plus. Experience with drywall, siding, doors, finish carpentry, and general construction is a plus. Basic electrical and plumbing construction knowledge is a plus. Must know how to safely operate standard construction power tools and equipment. Must be able to work independently when given plans and direction. Must be dependable and report to scheduled jobsites on time. Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record . Must be able to safely lift and carry construction materials and perform physical work throughout the workday. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Familiarity with the Central Valley and surrounding areas is a plus. Tools & Equipment Must have your own basic carpenter hand tools required to perform daily work. This includes basic items such as a tape measure, hammer, speed square, chalk line, tool bags, pencils/markers, utility knife, and similar everyday carpenter tools. Employee is expected to arrive job-ready with basic tools . Heavy-duty, specialty, and larger equipment can be supplied by Solo Construction as needed , including larger power tools and jobsite equipment. Company equipment must be properly maintained and used in accordance with safety requirements. What We're Looking For We want someone who can be handed a set of plans and direction and understand what needs to be built without having every step explained to them . Reliability, production, craftsmanship, safety, and the ability to read plans are extremely important for this position. We are looking for someone interested in long-term employment and growing with Solo Construction as we continue expanding into larger commercial and ground-up projects.
Pay:
$29.00 - $34.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
