Overview Join our dynamic team as a Carpenter Helper specializing in Stair Building! This entry-level role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop foundational carpentry skills while contributing to the creation of beautiful, functional staircases and wood structures. You'll work alongside experienced carpenters on residential or commercial projects, gaining hands-on experience with construction plans, woodworking techniques, and safety protocols. Duties Assist skilled carpenters in constructing and installing staircases, frameworks, and other stair structures according to blueprints and technical drawings Prepare work areas by measuring, marking, cutting, and sanding wood and other construction materials using hand tools and power tools for woodworking Handle heavy lifting of materials such as lumber, metal parts, framing components, and siding to ensure smooth workflow on site Support the installation of treads, balusters, risers, stringers, and other stairs carpentry elements with precision and attention to detail. Maintain a clean and organized work environment by properly storing tools and materials, adhering to power tool safety standards Follow instructions from supervisors regarding project specifications, safety procedures, and quality standards Assist in site cleanup, material delivery, rebar installation, plastering prep, or demo tasks as needed Requirements Basic understanding of construction estimating, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical drawings is a plus, but not required; willingness to learn is essential Familiarity with hand tools such as hammers, measuring tape, saws, chisels, and power tools for woodworking, like drills or sanders preferred. Prior construction site experience or exposure to residential carpentry projects is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively throughout the workday Strong work ethic with a positive attitude; eager to develop skills in framing carpentry, trim carpentry, leveling planes, and develop coordination with other teams on site. Knowledge of construction safety practices, including power tool safety, is beneficial but will be taught on the job Excellent communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in Florida outdoor conditions. Basic understanding of hand tools and measuring devices. Preferred Skills (Not Required) Welding Knowledge — Helpful for metal stair frames, railing, or custom metalwork. Welding Certification — AWS or equivalent is a plus.
