Full-Time Job Summary Doer Signs is looking for a dependable and skilled Crate Builder / Shipping Carpenter to build custom wooden crates, pallets, skids, and protective packaging for our manufactured signage and other products. This is a hands-on position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with wood, power tools, measurements, and custom fabrication. Most crates are custom-built based on the size, shape, and weight of the finished product. Responsibilities Measure finished signs and products to determine proper crate dimensions. Cut plywood, lumber, and other materials accurately. Build custom wooden crates, pallets, skids, and shipping frames. Operate circular saws, table saws, nail guns, drills, staple guns, and other woodworking tools. Install internal wood blocking, braces, foam, padding, and other protection. Make sure products are properly secured and protected against movement and damage during transportation. Build crates strong enough for heavy, oversized, or fragile products. Provide appropriate forklift/pallet-jack access when required. Work with the production and shipping teams to meet shipment deadlines. Repair and reuse crates and materials when appropriate. Maintain an organized and safe crating/work area. Follow all company safety procedures. Qualifications Carpentry, woodworking, construction, crate-building, or similar experience preferred. Must know how to use a tape measure accurately. Comfortable operating saws, nail guns, drills, and other power tools. Able to build from measurements and basic drawings. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Able to work independently. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Able to lift and handle lumber, plywood, and other materials. Forklift experience is a plus. Experience building shipping crates or packaging for machinery, signs, glass, equipment, or oversized products is a strong plus. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is practical, dependable, careful, and productive . You should be able to look at a finished product, understand how it needs to be protected, and build a strong crate around it without needing detailed instructions for every project. Experience as a carpenter, crate builder, pallet builder, cabinet maker, construction worker, or woodworker may be a good fit for this position.
