Job Description

Senior Scene Shop Carpenter Chewy 3 ( ) Plantation, FL on company site for later # R29361 Position summary ts while leading project-level execution across small teams. This role requires strong technical tradecraft, the ability to manage multiple overlapping builds, and proactive communication to ensure alignment, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality results. What you'll do: Execute complex, multi-component builds (multi-room environments, experiential sets, medium to large-scale or safety-sensitive structures) with high quality and consistency Translate creative concepts into construction plans, including sequencing, materials, and build methodology Break down projects into actionable tasks, timelines, and material estimates; ensure estimates are accurate and timely Plan and manage execution across multiple overlapping builds, aligning work to production schedules and priorities Provide project-level direction to builders and assistants, including task delegation, pacing, and quality control across the full build lifecycle Lead installation of scenic environments, ensuring structural integrity, camera readiness, and alignment with creative intent Execute advanced carpentry and finishing techniques, including custom paint, staining, aging, and faux finishes Collaborate closely with Spatial Designers to influence build feasibility, materials, and execution approach Partner with Stylists to align on build elements that impact set dressing and final presentation Proactively communicate project status, risks, blockers, and timeline impacts early to production and leadership Monitor material inventory and anticipate project needs to prevent delays or shortages Maintain and reinforce clean, organized, and safe shop and studio environments during install and post-wrap Ensure all builds are constructed to spec and meet quality, safety, and brand standards Follow and reinforce safety practices related to tools, materials, and production environments What you'll need: 5+ years of experience in art, production, video, photo, or theater with a focus on carpentry and custom fabrication. Experience as a scene shop foreman or construction coordinator is a plus. Experience directing and coordinating small teams at the project level Proven ability to independently execute complex builds and manage full build scope from planning through delivery Strong experience developing build plans, sequencing, and accurate material estimates Experience in theatrical rigging as well as basic knowledge of structural engineering principles Experience working with a variety of materials including wood, plastic, foam, plexiglass, and scenic finishes Advanced proficiency with power tools and adherence to safety standards Superb attention to detail, organization, and time management skills Experience working on a CNC machine inclusive of BobCAD software Familiarity with SketchUp / CAD software and Microsoft Office Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate risks and adapt quickly Excellent communication skills with a proactive, no-surprises approach Positive, team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership Receptive to feedback and able to apply learnings continuously Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Flexibility to support production schedules including early mornings, nights, weekends, and travel Comfortable working in environments with all pet types Chewy is an equal opportunity employer.
