Concrete Carpenter with Layout responsibilities builds, braces, and sets temporary or permanent formwork systems while using blueprints and measuring instruments to establish precise grades, dimensions, and elevations before concrete placement.
Study structural drawings, blueprints, and sketches to determine project layout, dimensions, shape, and material requirements.
Site Layout & Measurement:
Measure and mark cutting lines and layout boundaries using tape measures, chalk lines, levels, and builder's or transit levels to establish grades and elevations.
Form Construction & Assembly:
Build, erect, and align wood, plywood, or modular metal formwork systems for footings, foundations, slabs, walls, and columns.
Alignment & Verification:
Verify that forms are plumb, level, and set to correct elevation and alignment standards before any concrete pour.
Reinforcement & Embeds:
Position and tie rebar, wire mesh, anchor bolts, block outs, and metal embeds into the formwork.
Pour & Strip Support:
Monitor forms during concrete placement to prevent blowouts or shifts, and safely strip, clean, and store formwork after concrete cures.
Requirements & Qualifications Experience:
Typically, 2 to 5 years of proven carpentry and concrete formwork experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading construction documents, applying basic geometry and arithmetic, and using hand and power tools (circular saws, levels, squares).
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, work at heights, and repetitively lift heavy materials (50+ lbs.).
Safety & Compliance:
Strict adherence to OSHA guidelines, daily safety analysis protocols, and mandatory PPE usage. Equipment Experience specialized skill sets in robotic total station operation, site survey layout, and Trimble hardware/software
