Overview At Beachview Event Rentals & Design, we take pride in creating high-quality event experiences through exceptional rentals, custom builds, and event installations. We are currently seeking a Custom Builds Carpenter/Painter to join our team at our Brunswick, GA location . This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys building, creating, painting, and seeing a project come together from start to finish. Our Custom Builds team creates and maintains unique pieces used for weddings, corporate events, festivals, and other special events—including custom displays, stages, backdrops, structures, and specialty event pieces. The ideal candidate has experience in carpentry, woodworking, painting, construction, fabrication, or a related trade and takes pride in producing clean, professional work. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with their hands, and willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team meet deadlines. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCarpentry & Custom Fabrication Construct custom event pieces, displays, stages, backdrops, and specialty structures from plans, sketches, and project specifications. Measure, cut, assemble, modify, and install wood and other materials. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, sanders, and other fabrication equipment. Perform repairs, modifications, and maintenance on existing event inventory and custom structures. Assist with loading, transporting, installing, and dismantling custom-built event pieces when needed. Help troubleshoot build or installation challenges and make adjustments as necessary. Painting & Finishing Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, patching, filling, and priming. Apply paint, stain, sealers, and specialty finishes to custom builds and existing event inventory. Use brushes, rollers, and paint sprayers as appropriate for each project. Touch up, repaint, and restore rental inventory to maintain a professional appearance. Maintain a high level of attention to detail and ensure completed pieces are clean and presentation-ready. Properly clean and maintain painting tools, sprayers, and work areas. Shop & Team Responsibilities Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area. Follow company safety procedures and applicable workplace safety requirements. Properly care for company tools, equipment, and materials. Assist with maintaining inventory of building materials, paint, tools, and supplies. Work closely with designers, project managers, warehouse employees, and installation crews to complete projects accurately and on schedule. Assist with special projects and other event production needs as required. Be willing to step outside of normal day-to-day responsibilities when needed to support the team during busy event periods. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in carpentry, woodworking, painting, construction, fabrication, or a related field preferred. Ability to accurately use a tape measure and perform basic measurements and calculations. Ability to interpret sketches, construction drawings, plans, or project instructions. Experience using common carpentry, woodworking, and painting tools and equipment. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Ability to problem-solve and make adjustments during the building and finishing process. Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation. Valid driver's license preferred. Preferred Skills Experience with paint sprayers. Decorative painting or specialty finishing experience. Custom fabrication or scenic/event build experience. Event production or installation experience. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Physical Requirements This is a physically active, hands-on position.
Employees must be able to:
Lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, push, pull, lift, and carry materials. Safely operate tools and equipment required for the position. Work in warehouse, shop, event-site, and outdoor environments. Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions when projects require outdoor installation. Schedule Full-time position. Schedule may vary based on project and event needs. Occasional overtime, evenings, weekends, and travel may be required during busy periods or based on event schedules.
