Job Description
Three Ten Timber is hiring two full-time W-2 craftsmen to join our team in Cedar Falls, Iowa. We design, fabricate, and build custom timber frame structures, traditional dovetail log structures, heavy timber trusses, restored historic frames, and other custom projects using reclaimed and new timbers. Our work centers on legacy projects built to last for generations . We build one-of-a-kind homes, cabins, barns, lodges, and other custom structures that combine traditional timber framing, reclaimed materials, and specialty carpentry. The craft is rooted in time-tested building methods, but every project gives our crew the opportunity to solve something unique and build work that stands apart. This position combines fabrication at our Cedar Falls yard with extended travel for projects across the country and beyond. Compensation $28-$36/hour, based on experience Travel compensation includes: 20% additional pay while traveling Regular overtime opportunities Company-paid travel Company-paid lodging Per diem What You'll Do Fabricate custom timber frames and heavy timber trusses Cut and fit traditional timber frame joinery Build hand-hewn dovetail log structures Perform custom carpentry and detailed field work beyond timber framing Read drawings and complete precise layout Work with reclaimed and new heavy timbers Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized timber framing equipment Travel with our crew for raises, installation, and construction Who We're Looking For Timber framing experience is valuable, but not required. We are looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of strong hands-on experience in a high-craft trade , such as: Timber framing Finish or custom carpentry Architectural millwork Cabinet making Furniture making Stair building Historic restoration High-end residential construction The right person takes pride in precise work, cares about the finished product, solves problems well, and wants to keep developing as a craftsman. We are a small, tight-knit crew, so skill is only part of the fit. We want people who work well with others, take responsibility for their work, and contribute to a strong crew both in the shop and while traveling. Travel Travel is a major part of this position. Most trips last 2-3 weeks , with occasional projects lasting 3-6 weeks . Our work has taken us to places including: Nantucket Island, Massachusetts Moab, Utah Black Hills, South Dakota More unique locations on the horizon For the right person, this is an opportunity to travel to remarkable places, build projects most carpenters will never encounter, and develop a rare skill set in traditional timber framing, log construction, heavy timber fabrication, and custom carpentry. Location This position is based at our fabrication yard in Cedar Falls, Iowa . Candidates must be able to work from Cedar Falls when not traveling.
