Leapros Skilled Trades is actively seeking an experienced Working Metal Stud Framing Foreman to lead commercial framing crews on high-end tenant improvement and hospitality-style renovation projects in Chicago, IL. This is a hands-on leadership role in which the foreman frames from the tool belt while directing carpenters and laborers on detailed interior build-outs. The ideal candidate brings extensive commercial metal stud framing experience, the ability to read and execute construction drawings independently, and a demonstrated track record of maintaining quality standards on finish-sensitive commercial interiors.

Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on commercial metal stud framing while working from the tool belt alongside crew members throughout the workday. Lay out walls, soffits, ceilings, openings, and related framing components directly from construction plans and specifications. Lead, assign daily tasks to, and maintain the productivity of framing carpenters and laborers on active commercial jobsites. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings to guide accurate and compliant field execution. Coordinate framing activities with other trades and site leadership to maintain proper project sequencing and minimize schedule disruption. Verify dimensions, elevations, layout, and completed work to ensure quality and conformance with design intent on detail-sensitive interiors. Track daily crew progress and communicate manpower and material needs to project management in a timely manner. Identify field conflicts and develop practical solutions with minimal disruption to project schedule and quality. Enforce jobsite safety requirements and proper work practices across all crew members at all times. Assist with punch-list completion and finish carpentry tasks as required to support project closeout.
Qualifications:
Extensive commercial metal stud framing experience across tenant improvement, hospitality renovation, or similar interior construction projects. Previous experience in a working foreman, lead carpenter, or crew leader capacity with demonstrated ability to direct carpenters and laborers while remaining hands-on. Proven ability to perform wall and ceiling layout, soffit framing, blocking installation, and door frame installation directly from construction drawings. Strong knowledge of drywall assemblies, interior framing systems, and related components including soffits, ceilings, and blocking. Strong blueprint reading and construction drawing interpretation skills with the ability to work independently from documents without consistent supervision. Experience coordinating framing scope with other trades and communicating effectively with site leadership and project management. Solid problem-solving and organizational skills to manage field conflicts and daily crew operations in active commercial environments. Reliable transportation and ability to report consistently to jobsites throughout the Chicago area. Must supply appropriate hand tools and personal protective equipment.
Preferred:
experience on high-end tenant improvements, hospitality renovations, medical or wellness interiors, retail build-outs, or boutique detail-oriented interior projects.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday. Must be able to work from the tool belt performing repetitive framing tasks including cutting, fastening, and lifting framing components. Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 75 pounds. Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and hand-eye coordination for precision layout and framing tasks. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights including on scaffolding or elevated platforms. Must be able to work in active commercial construction environments with exposure to dust, noise, and varying interior conditions. Must be aware of and comply with OSHA safety standards at all times.
Pay Transparency:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $30 to $40 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
