Full-time, 12-month Summary Performs high-quality carpentry in a variety of settings, including the maintenance and alteration of academic, athletic, and dormitory structures and equipment, and the maintenance and repair of historic buildings. Performs skilled finish work ranging from repairing and rebuilding doors and windows to the construction and installation of cabinetry, countertops, and furniture, drywall, and other miscellaneous carpentry-related tasks. Concrete experience with flatwork, finishing, and masonry repairs. Primary Responsibilities Performs systematic and routine maintenance and repairs to exterior and interior structural components of buildings, including walls, doors, windows, and roofs Repairs, adjusts, and replaces (as appropriate) door and window hardware including locks, door closures, weather stripping, windowpanes, and related components Repairs and maintains a variety of furniture ranging from historic pieces to modular office systems Installs cabinets and other wood trim requiring advanced carpentry skills Performs minor remodeling to offices, student dormitories, and college-owned faculty/staff housing Repairs a variety of floors including hardwood, ceramic, quarry tile, and vinyl composition Performs regular roof inspections Keeps supervisor informed of all substandard and unsafe structural components Ability to learn and maintain electronic door lock systems Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, climbing ladders, and working from and operating elevated mobile platforms (scaffolding, lifts) Responds to after-hours emergencies as an emergency response team member or individually for access control support, snow removal, etc. Core Competencies Teamwork- Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback.
