Job Description

Hourly Rate:

$20+ A Carpenter is a skilled woodworker who specializes in fabricating and installing custom-made wooden components like doors, windows, moldings, and cabinetry, typically produced in a mill facility based on detailed blueprints and specifications, then precisely fitted and installed on-site in a building project; essentially, they are responsible for the intricate finish carpentry elements of a structure.

Key Responsibilities:

Reading and interpreting blueprints: Accurately interpreting construction plans to determine the precise dimensions and design of each fabricated piece. In addition, the ability to build or fabricate off of said drawings.

Operating mill machinery:

Utilizing and maintaining various power tools like table saws, shapers, routers, and sanders to cut, shape, and finish wood components to exact specifications.

Custom fabrication:

Creating unique pieces like custom doors, window frames, casing, trim, and decorative moldings according to project requirements.

Precise measuring and fitting:

Accurately measuring and fitting components to ensure proper installation on-site.

On-site installation:

Carefully installing fabricated components, including alignment, leveling, and securing them in place.

Quality Control and Assurance:

Meticulous inspection of all work at each stage of completion to ensure it adheres to the highest quality standards and specifications. Proactive identification and rectification of any defects, inaccuracies, or deviations from the project plan. Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to maintain quality throughout the construction process. Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

Mill and job site upkeep:

Responsible for the designated work spaces in the mill and job site to remain clean and organized.

Experience with

Fine Carpentry and Finish Work:

Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with team members.

Ability to follow instructions from the Lead Carpenter, Shop Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager and relay information to Apprentices. Adhering to safety protocols on the job site and wearing required personal protective equipment. Ability to remain positive and professional under pressure. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and be a resource of guidance to apprentices. Punctual and communicative. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus!
