Job Title:
Lead Commercial Carpenter Job Description This role leads commercial remodeling projects at a large research facility, overseeing carpentry work from framing and drywall to finish details. You will coordinate daily activities on site, ensure high-quality workmanship, and support a safe, organized jobsite while collaborating closely with subcontractors and other trades. Responsibilities Oversee and manage commercial remodeling projects, ensuring all work is completed on time and meets high quality standards. Perform or coordinate framing, drywall installation, drywall finishing, metal stud work, tile work, cabinetry, and other general remodeling tasks. Lead and support carpentry activities on site, including both rough and finish carpentry, to ensure consistent, professional results. Collaborate with subcontractors, tradespeople, and project stakeholders to maintain clear communication and seamless project execution. Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve on-site challenges efficiently to keep projects on schedule. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the project. Support and mentor less experienced team members, reinforcing best practices and quality expectations. Essential Skills 2+ years of drywall or framing experience in a residential or commercial setting. Hands-on experience with drywall installation and drywall finishing. Proficiency with metal stud framing and general framing techniques. Strong commercial carpentry skills, including both rough and finish carpentry. Ability to read and follow construction directions and project requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage or coordinate multiple tasks on a jobsite. Strong problem-solving skills for addressing on-site issues efficiently. Commitment to working safely and following applicable safety regulations and standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any additional carpentry experience beyond drywall and framing is a plus. Experience working on commercial remodeling or build-out projects is highly desirable. Background in tile work, cabinetry, or other finish trades is beneficial. Ability to collaborate effectively with subcontractors and other trades. Willingness to learn from team members and adopt new techniques and best practices. Why Work Here? You will work with standard commercial carpentry tools and materials, including drywall, metal studs, framing systems, and finish carpentry components. The site maintains a clean and organized setting, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to building codes. Dress will align with typical commercial construction attire, including appropriate work clothing, safety footwear, and required personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jessup, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
