As we continue to grow, we are looking for experienced and motivated individuals to join our team and contribute to the legacy of our traditional boat yard. The Opportunity This position is ideal for a hands-on carpenter who enjoys both woodworking and the practical side of yacht outfitting. As an Outfit Carpenter, you will perform interior and exterior joinery while also installing and fitting a wide range of hardware and components, including hatches, windlasses, rod holders, cleats, rails, and other deck and cabin fittings. You will work on both new construction and refit projects in a traditional yacht yard environment, taking pride in precise fit-up, clean installations, and high-quality craftsmanship. Prior marine or yacht experience is highly valued. Responsibilities Install, fit, and adjust hatches, ports, and deck hardware. Install and service windlasses, including mounting, alignment, and basic mechanical setup. Install rod holders, cup holders, cleats, chocks, and other deck fittings. Mount and bed hardware using proper sealants and fasteners to ensure watertight installations. Install and adjust hinges, latches, hasps, and other cabin hardware. Fit and install grab rails, handrails, and safety rails. Install and trim out electrical and mechanical access panels. Mount compasses, electronics brackets, and related small fixtures. Perform minor modifications and custom fitting of existing hardware and fittings. Assist with the installation of canvas track, snaps, and related attachments. Ensure all installed hardware is properly aligned, secured, and finished to yacht standards. Support staging of boats and movement of materials between work areas. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Collaborate with other trades and yard staff as needed. Take on additional responsibilities based on demonstrated skills and experience. Qualifications Experience in finish carpentry or marine outfitting, preferably in a yacht or boat yard setting. Strong skills in measuring, cutting, fitting, and installing both wood components and deck/cabin hardware. Experience installing or working with hatches, windlasses, rod holders, cleats, rails, and similar fittings is a plus. Ability to read and work from plans, sketches, or verbal instructions. Comfortable working with marine sealants, fasteners, adhesives, and common power/hand tools. Detail-oriented with a focus on clean, watertight, and properly aligned installations. Ability to work outdoors and inside workshops in all seasons. Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Occasional use of ladders, PPE, lifting objects up to fifty pounds, bending, and reaching over your head. Valid driver's license required. High school diploma or GED required. What We Offer Full-time, year-round position (40 hours a week, Monday through Friday). Overtime as required to match seasonal workloads.
