Job Description The Opportunity MassMutual is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our facilities Management team. In this role, you'll help maintain and enhance our corporate facilities through a variety of maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction projects that support safe, efficient, and productive work environments. We're looking for a craftsman who brings strong carpentry expertise, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to effectively communicate and manage work using business technology tools. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while supporting the day-to-day operations and long-term improvement of MassMutual's facilities on our Springfield, MA campus. Onsite required Mon-Fri 8am -4:30pm The Team The Facilities Management team plays a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment across MassMutual's corporate properties. The team is responsible for the maintenance, repair, renovation, and operational support of office buildings, campus facilities, and infrastructure that enable employees and visitors to perform at their best. This collaborative team includes skilled trades professionals, facilities foremen, maintenance mechanics, carpenters, painters, and janitorial staff who work together to support both day-to-day operations and long-term campus improvement initiatives. The team partners closely with Corporate Real Estate, project managers, contractors, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality facility services while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and customer service The Impact Perform a wide range of carpentry work, including the installation, repair, and maintenance of structural building components, cabinetry, fixtures, doors, windows, flooring, and other facility assets. Execute rough and finish carpentry projects while interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to deliver high-quality results. Support renovation, maintenance, and construction projects by measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials using industry-standard tools and equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to identify and address wear, damage, and repair needs before they impact operations. Partner with project managers, contractors, and facilities professionals to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Maintain accurate records, communicate project progress, and contribute to a well-organized and productive work environment. Uphold all company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable building codes while promoting a culture of safety and compliance. Respond to urgent facility needs and support emergency repairs as business needs require. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, Technical Diploma or equivalent 5+ years of carpentry experience, preferably within commercial property maintenance environments. 2+ years of working knowledge of permitting requirements and procedures. 2+ years' experience with blueprint reading, interpreting drawings & understanding and technical specifications. 1+ years using Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, word, excel) Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) or ability to obtain one within 18 months 1+ years' experience supporting commercial facilities, property management, or corporate campuses Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds and performing frequent standing, bending, climbing, and other physical activities in a variety of indoor and outdoor work environments Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Ideal Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Vocational training, apprenticeship, or formal carpentry education. Strong carpentry expertise with a commitment to craftsmanship and quality workmanship. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex facility-related issues. Effective communication and collaboration skills with a customer-service mindset. The ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and work independently or as part of a team. A commitment to safety, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
