In this role, you will be responsible for executing a wide range of carpentry tasks on residential and commercial projects, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will help transform blueprints and technical drawings into tangible structures, contributing to the successful completion of remodeling, restoration, and new construction projects. Responsibilities Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately execute carpentry tasks. Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood and other construction materials using hand tools and power tools for woodworking. Perform framing, door hanging, drywall installation, plastering, stucco application, and rebar installation on various projects. Operate woodworking machines safely to produce precise components for framing, trim work, and custom cabinetry. Install fixtures such as cabinets, countertops, moldings, and other trim carpentry elements with attention to detail. Conduct heavy lifting safely during material handling and assist in remodeling or restoration industry projects requiring specialized skills. Follow construction estimating procedures to ensure project budgets are maintained while delivering quality workmanship. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to power tool safety protocols and site safety regulations. Collaborate with team members and project managers to interpret construction plans accurately and meet project deadlines. Travel to project sites throughout Detroit and the surrounding area. Experience Proven experience in residential carpentry with a strong background in framing, drywall, stucco, caulking, and fixture installation. Skilled in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans with precision. Hands-on experience operating hand tools, power tools for woodworking, woodworking machines, metal stud framing equipment, and other construction tools.. Familiarity with the use of rebar for reinforcement in concrete or masonry projects is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. Previous work in the restoration industry or remodeling projects is highly desirable. Strong understanding of power tool safety practices combined with handyman experience or general construction site experience enhances your suitability for this role.
