Job Description

Job Title:
Trim Carpenter
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The trim carpenter needs to be able to organize and complete projects as well as meet reasonable scheduling demands. Should be able to work by themselves when needed and set a team leader example when working with others. Ability to work with others and be enthusiastic about being a part of a productive team is a must. Must be willing to produce daily detailed reports including pictures. Travel to job sites no more than 30 minutes away from office located in Lansing. Does not factor commute for employee to/from office.
ACTIVITIES
the position's activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Insure company and customer satisfaction through professional appearance, expert workmanship, and polite communication. Attend all company/client meetings as scheduled by the Production Manager. Help edit the proposed project schedule (critical path) in advance of project commencement, help adjust schedule as needed based on production realities. On a daily basis, inform the Production Manager of the progress of the project, including any customer concerns, problems, and delays with the ability to produce detailed daily reports including pictures. Be responsible for the efficient and profitable use of the company's time, manpower and materials on each project as reviewed during meetings. Support the company image by the appearance of a well-maintained job site by utilizing the supplied materials. Maintain an operational inventory of necessary tools, safety equipment, equipment, and production truck to perform specific activities. Takes responsibility for client satisfaction, we want to deliver top quality craftsmanship and a great memorable experience. Continually seek knowledge through the internet and other avenues to master your craft and abilities. Seek additional responsibility and guidance from all team members as needed to enhance existing skills, learn new skills, and create potential for advancement within the company.
NECESSARY SKILLS
1. We want you installing finishes at a high level and with speed! Detailed trim carpentry knowledge and install techniques that include installing interior doors, casing windows, installing baseboards, kitchen cabinet & vanity installs, closet build outs, trimming pocket and bi-fold/bypass doors, crown moulding, shoe moulding, hand rails, and other assorted finish trim. Skills that will be needed (not very often if ever is our goal) when high level finish trim is not a need in production: 2. Knowledge of modern install techniques for exterior doors and windows including: code compliant waterproofing/house wrap integration, correct placement with consideration for the finish trim and all adjacent accessories, and correct fastening/shimming to ensure full functionality for the life of the door or window. 3. Knowledge and install techniques of multiple types of finished floors included luxury vinyl products, engineered/solid hardwood, and click lock planks. 4. Knowledge of interior accessory and hardware lay out and install including towel bars, mirrors, door handles/knobs, bedroom and closet door hardware, grab bars, shower rods, toilet paper holders, closet rods, etc. 5. Any other tasks that fit into your detailed mindset that help the company complete jobs at a high level within a clients expectations. Pay and Benefits (After 90 days) :
  • Hourly compensation is offered at $28
  • 40/hour
  • 7 paid holidays off including New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
  • 72 hours paid time off for any sick and/or personal use (if less than 1900 hours worked per year then PTO may be subject to adjustment).
  • Phone allowance for use of personal phone for business purposes will be paid monthly at a rate of $20/month.
  • Vehicle compensation for personal vehicle use for business purposes will be paid monthly at a flat rate of $200 per month or $300 for a truck (Company van a possibility depending on experience and value you add)
  • Managed Simple IRA up to 3% matching
  • BCBSM insurance half paid by R.L. Rider (Vision & dental paid by employee)
  • $100,000 life insurance paid for by R.L. Rider
  • $600.
