For over 10 years, John Grace Restoration & Construction has helped West Michigan homeowners recover from water, fire/smoke, storm, flood, and mold damage. We take pride in helping people through difficult situations while creating a workplace that is genuine, positive, and focused on giving our team opportunities to learn and grow. We're expanding our reach and we're looking for a Lead Carpenter in the Lansing area. Training will be out of our Comstock Park location. We are looking for someone who Takes pride in their work and is dependable. Can adapt to a fast-paced environment where each day may look different. Is willing to learn multiple areas of restoration. Can participate in an on-call rotation and respond to weather-related events. Key responsibilities & duties Perform water mitigation, including water extraction, content manipulation, removal of affected building materials, cleaning and disinfecting, and placement of drying equipment. Perform fire and smoke restoration, including structure cleaning, soot and smoke removal, odor remediation, and other required cleaning or demolition activities. Perform demolition and remediation work, including removal of building materials, containment setup, negative air setup, and following proper procedures for safe and clean work environments. Complete pack-outs and pack-backs by safely handling, wrapping, categorizing, loading, unloading, storing, and returning homeowner possessions. Complete content cleaning, debris removal, deodorization, and general job-site cleaning as needed. Document and inventory homeowner possessions using the company's digital record-keeping systems, including detailed notes and photos. Load, unload, transport, organize, and properly store equipment, tools, materials, and homeowner contents. Maintain clean and organized company vehicles, tools, equipment, and work areas.
Requirements:
Ability to perform a physically active job, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and lifting/moving 50+ pounds. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a criminal background check for work on insurance-related claims. Basic smartphone, email, and technology skills. Ability to participate in the on-call rotation.
