Job Description
Job Overview Maverick Construction is a growing, locally owned residential construction company serving southeastern Minnesota. We specialize in roofing, siding, gutters, decks, and exterior remodeling. We value quality workmanship, honest communication, problem-solving, and taking care of our customers and team. Maverick Construction is looking for an experienced, dependable carpenter who can take ownership of their work and confidently handle a variety of residential construction projects. This is not an entry-level position. We are willing to teach certain skills and show the right person how Maverick operates, but applicants must already have a strong foundation in carpentry and construction. We need someone who can evaluate a project, identify what needs to be done, solve problems as they arise, and complete quality work without constant supervision. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently but also understands the importance of being a strong member of a team. This person should be willing to collaborate, share their knowledge, help troubleshoot challenges, and teach or guide other team members when needed. Responsibilities Build and repair residential decks Frame and install windows Install and repair siding Complete structural and nonstructural framing repairs Troubleshoot and repair unusual or unexpected construction issues Evaluate jobsite conditions and determine practical solutions Read measurements, plans, and project information accurately Complete work efficiently while maintaining Maverick's quality standards Communicate clearly with project managers, team members, and other trades Work independently and remain productive without constant oversight Collaborate with the team to solve problems and complete projects Share knowledge and help teach less-experienced team members when appropriate Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite Properly care for tools, equipment, and company property Perform other carpentry and construction-related work as projects require Qualifications Previous professional carpentry or residential construction experience required Demonstrated ability to complete carpentry work independently Experience with deck construction, window framing, siding, and framing repairs Strong construction-related problem-solving skills Ability to adapt when unexpected or unusual issues arise Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage time effectively Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Willingness to collaborate, communicate, and share knowledge with others Ability to communicate professionally & respectfully with customers Commitment to following jobsite safety procedures Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to Maverick's commercial auto insurance carrier required Ability to pass a background check and reference verification Professional references required What We Offer Competitive pay of $25-$35 per hour, based on experience Company vehicle and fuel provided for travel from the shop to job sites All major tools provided Employer-provided life insurance
