Job Description

Finish Carpenter - Custom Closet BuildOverview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Finish Carpenter to complete a custom closet build in a residential master bedroom walk-in closet. The project involves building and installing a center shoe rack tower, custom shelving with closet rods, and wall-mounted storage sections. Duties Take final field measurements of the closet to confirm layout before fabrication begins, including dog kennel placement, shoe rack width, shelving dimensions, and available space above the closet door. Locate wall studs and determine secure mounting locations for all shelving, rods, and the center tower. Build and install a center vertical shoe rack sized to hold approximately two pairs of shoes per shelf, positioned to clear the tops of the homeowner's existing dog kennels. Measure, cut, assemble, and install all shelving, rods, brackets, and cleats with precision using hand and power tools. Secure all shelving and supports directly into wall framing; verify proper fit, alignment, and clearance around the existing door, trim, and attic access.
Perform finishing work:
sand and finish all exposed surfaces/edges, fill fastener holes, caulk joints, paint/finish for a clean consistent appearance, and touch up affected areas. Qualifications Proven experience in residential carpentry, trim carpentry, or finish carpentry with a focus on custom closet or shelving projects. Strong knowledge of blueprint/measurement reading and ability to translate a design concept into an accurate build. Proficiency with hand tools and power tools for woodworking. Familiarity with construction site safety practices including power tool safety and heavy lifting techniques. Ability to work independently, manage final measurements and adjustments on-site, and maintain attention to detail. Experience with painting/finish work, caulking, and trim carpentry. Strong problem-solving skills, particularly around tight-clearance layouts (e.g., fitting fixed-width components like kennels and shoe racks into a defined wall space). Join our team as a Finish Carpenter - Custom Closet Build and bring your craftsmanship into a home where your work will make a real difference! We value safety, precision, and creativity — qualities that define our commitment to delivering exceptional custom storage solutions for our clients.
